When it comes to skin-care routines, there are thousands of products to help correct and heal the skin, but it can seem very overwhelming finding products that work for you. I have combination skin and struggle with minor breakouts, so if your skin is similar to mine, you might enjoy these products as well.
Cleansers are the step of my routine that frequently changes. Typically, I’ll just shop in drug stores to find a product that claims to heal whatever skin issue I’m currently facing. Right now, I’m using the Aveeno Positively Radiant Skin Brightening Daily Scrub cleanser, which claims to remove impurities and even skin tone. This product does make my face feel tight but it has cleared up my breakouts and helps get rid of dead skin.
2. Pixi Glow Tonic ($15)
I feel like this product is everyone’s go to and for a good reason. I use this after cleansing to make sure all the dirt is gone and my pores are clean. This is the product that makes my face glow and look dewy. This exfoliating toner removes dead skin cells, while also firming, hydrating and soothing the skin.
3. Etude House Honey Cera Toner ($19.20)
Toners prep the skin by hydrating and balancing the skin’s pH levels. I currently use the Honey Cera toner and have been for a little under a year. Being the first product I added to my official skin care routine, I’ve noticed a complete change from where my skin was before: dry, broken out and in need of help.
For Morgantown locals, you can find this toner at Poppy & Daisy located on Fayette Street. They sell the entire Honey Cera line, all of which I highly recommend, and a trial size of the collection for a cheaper price.
4. Estée Lauder Micro Essence Treatment ($59)
Essences are a hybrid product of a toner and serum. This product uses active ingredients to give your skin that “angelic glow” while nourishing and replenishing the skin. While the full bottle of this essence is pretty expensive, I was lucky enough to find a mini bottle for less than $10 at The Cosmetics Company Store.
5. Botanics All Bright Refreshing Eye Roll-On ($13.99)
This product is formulated with hibiscus and is supposed to brighten the skin under the eyes. It took a while for me to notice a difference with this product but I do believe it has brightened the dark circles under my eyes. However, this serum does make your skin more sensitive to the sun.
This serum instantly brightened my skin just after one use. I constantly apply this and have noticed that my skin looks healthy and fresh all day long. I used to struggle from a lot of redness and since using this product, my skin looks more even.
7. Neutrogena Hydro Boost Multivitamin Booster ($19.99)
I took a tip from Jackie Aina’s page to find a product with hyaluronic acid. I wasn’t sure if this would be worth the price but it has definitely hydrated and brightened my skin. I don’t think I’ll go a day without this product in my life ever again.
8. Skinfix Brightening Eye Cream ($24.99)
Eye creams prevent discoloration and wrinkles while offering extra hydration to the area around the eyes. While I have not yet fallen in love with an eye cream, I am currently using the Skinfix brightening eye cream, which can be found at your local CVS (I got it on sale for $5.99!).
As creamy as milk, the Shea Moisture Coconut Oil Daily Hydration Face Lotion feels amazing on the skin. It is supposed to brighten and soften the skin and I noticed effects the first night that I used it. I’ve tried many different moisturizers in my life and have never found one that I really love, however I think I finally found the one. The product is a little thick, which I don’t mind, but if you want something that feels light, it might not be for you. At such a cheap price, it’s definitely worth a try.
**I will update this list as I change and add products to my routine.
